Saison opening in Elm next weekend from 6/7 December

Winter is here, and the fun of skiing can begin. The Elmer snow sports paradise will kick off the ski season on the next two weekends, 6/7 and 13/14 December, with weekend operations. And the best news for the start of the season in the middle of Advent: all Sinterklaas figures will be skiing for free on 13 December.

People sit and relax on the sun terrace of the Älpli mountain restaurant, surrounded by snowy alpine peaks under a clear blue sky. Swiss flags are visible, and visitors enjoy food and drinks in the winter sunshine.
Guests enjoy the winter sun on the terrace of the Älpli, with a breathtaking panorama of the snow-covered Glarus Alps.

Although Frau Holle has not yet showered the ski resort with much snow, Elm can open part of the ski area next weekend thanks to the great work of the snow-making and piste-grooming teams. Winter sports fans can now head out into the snow and enjoy the cosy mountain restaurants.

The toboggan run and the winter hiking trail to Munggä Hüttä will remain closed for the time being.

All Samichlaus guests ski for free on 13 December

The Sportbahnen are celebrating St. Nicholas Day on 13 December in a special way: all guests dressed as Samichlaus, with or without skis, will enjoy a free day of skiing on this day.  No suitable costume? No problem, the Sportbahnen are selling Samichlaus costumes for CHF 25.

All children ski for free on 20 December

As is traditional, all children up to the age of 16 are also skiing for free at the start of the season in Elm.

Prospects

The Sportbahnen will decide whether the other facilities can be opened at any time, depending on the further weather conditions. All information will be communicated in the winter sports report on the Sportbahnen website.

Winter season outlook 25/26

Skiing in the Elm mountain world promises white slopes, long descents on freshly groomed pistes and plenty of sunshine. The Ämpächli mountain restaurant, the Munggä Hüttä and the cosy Älpli round off your visit perfectly with their gastronomic offerings. Special winter offers for groups are ideal for a break with friends. They combine winter sports activities such as tobogganing, winter hiking or snowshoeing with a culinary highlight such as cheese fondue, raclette, table grill or Chinese fondue.
