Anyone who loves winter in the mountains cannot do without outdoor sports equipment. Years of experience are essential.

‘Vreni Schneider is like my godfather,’ says Anja Baumgartner in the modern sports shop in the middle of Elm. One sentence, a whole lot of memories, a whole lot of emotions. When Anja was born, Vreni Schneider won three Olympic medals for Switzerland in Lillehammer. As the aunt and godmother of her brother Thomas, she simply becomes ‘godmother Vreni’ in the course of Anja’s own skiing career.

A family business in the mountain valley

Since May 2022, Anja and her husband Martin Baumgartner have been running the Vreni Schneider sports shop in the charming village centre of Elm. The shop was originally founded in 1970 by Anja’s grandfather – Vreni’s father – and later continued by Anja’s parents in the second generation. The business is now in the hands of Anja and her husband.

From Rossignol to Stöckli

And so the story continues. From Rossignol (Vreni’s ski brand during her active time) to Stöckli Ski and Van Deer. From Alpine skiing to ski touring and cross-country skiing. From mountain sports and hiking to trail running in the summer. ‘Mountain sports are for the whole year,’ say Martin and Anja. What is needed? A lot of passion.
