First August 2025 in the holiday region Elm and Braunwald

The holiday region of Elm and Braunwald has a wide range of events planned for 1 August. Traditional celebrations with musical entertainment, speeches, church services, local brunch buffets and barbecues, and even the quaint mountain bonfires accompanied by fireworks, will all help to make 1 August 2025 a memorable experience.

National Day celebrations combine tradition and regionality

Here’s how the holiday region of Elm will be celebrating:

1. August celebrations in the idyllic village of Matt
The village community of Matt and the Elm holiday region association are inviting everyone to a cosy get-together with a food stall. The event will be held in a lively atmosphere with a prayer by Rev. Wüthrich, a speech by Petsch Marti from Matt, and music by the Engi Harmonie Society. The event will start at 4 p.m. at the school grounds in Matt. The event will take place whatever the weather.

Brunch offers in the Älpli and Ämpächli, in Mettmen and on the Weissenberge
As always, you can enjoy a hearty brunch on the sunny terraces of the Ämpächli and Älpli mountain restaurants in Elm, with a view of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. The Edelwyss mountain restaurant in the Weissenberge and the Mettmen mountain hotel in Mettmen are also offering regional brunches. To book, please contact the Elm mountain railway for the Älpli and Ämpächli, the Edelwyss mountain restaurant for the brunch in the Weissenberge, and the Mettmen mountain hotel for the brunch on the Mettmen Alp.
