Plant protection area between 1800 - 2000 m above sea level
Alpine, even high alpine vegetation can be found in the plant protection area at 1,800 to 2,000 metres. And the diversity of plants attracts - of course - a large number of species of insects. The beautiful flower hike also offers a breathtaking panorama. The area is easy to reach from the terminus of the Kombibahn Gumen.
Braunwald - High above the clouds with Edelweiss Air! Since February 2017, the Braunwald holiday region has been able to present itself as the proud namesake of an Airbus A320 of Edelweiss Air. As part of the "Where Edelweiss is at home" naming concept, Braunwald was one of the few Swiss destinations to be allowed to be present high above the clouds with immediate effect.
In the Braunwald plant protection area at 2000 m above sea level, the queen of alpine flowers is very common. The area on the Gumen and around the Eggstöcke is easily accessible via the scenic Gumenbahn.
